Altitude Up And Running – Major Magna Park Development

A brand-new logistics building located at Gazeley’s Magna Park in Milton Keynes, is now the largest blank warehouse facility in the United Kingdom.  The 53,300 m² warehouse named ‘Altitude’ was built by the Singapore-based multinational group Global Logistic Properties (GLP).

Architects and owners insisted that the new facility is at the forefront of sustainable development. Therefore, it has been equipped with LED lighting, solar thermal heating, a rainwater recovery system and charging terminals for electric vehicles. The icing on the cake: is its reinforced steel roof designed to integrate solar panels allowing future customers to save up to 1,300 tons of CO2 per year.

Strategically located in the immediate vicinity of the M1 motorway, which connects London to Leeds, the Milton Keynes Magna Park is, according to Joe Garwood, director of development at Gazeley, “a leading site for e-commerce, logistics and distribution companies”. Furthermore, its proximity to a dynamic employment pool of some 932,000 people of working age in the densely populated region, is another asset put forward by Gazeley to attract new tenants.

This acquisition enables GLP, the largest warehouse operator in Asia, to enter the European market with a favourable portfolio in the zone.  Steve Schutte, CEO of GLP insists “We are committed to a long-term growth strategy in Europe and we are happy to do so based on the Gazeley brand”.

Located in the north London area of Berkshire, Knights Van Hire are excited to see what other commercial developments and small businesses will come into fruition after this new logistics facility is fully operational.
